What is your nationality?

I was asked the other day by someone what was my nationality. This is an excerpt from our conversation:

The person: "What is your nationality?"

Me: "Canadian."

The person: "But you have an accent."

Me: "So what?"

Hi - I read some of your blog this morning and found it quite interesting. I was especially interested in your post about the mansions and the rich making profit off the poor. Being American I live in the most capitalistic country in the world and then living in NYC with a bunch of wealthy people I see people all the time (work with some of them) who have built their fortunes on the backs of the poor and oppressed. Let's not even get into what the U.S. does in other 3rd world and developing countries to exploit labor ( we are almost single-handedly responsible for the creation of many 3rd world countries because we have used slave labor to extract valuable resources out of said country yet don't put anything back into the economy leaving it destitute). Anyway, I just wanted to let you know I enjoyed looking at your site and agree whole-heartedly with many of your sentiments. I especially liked that you apologized to animals for using the word animal to describe despicable behavior. I hate it when people say - he is an 'animal.' Well, WE are animals and secondly the human animal is the only intentionally violent animal on earth so really one should say 'he is such a homo-sapien!'. You are not an outcast in my book!Also, I am very sorry about your sister. At least the crime has been reclassified as a homicide rather than suicide.Take Care!Gaia
